What I'm learning-
Tuesday I get to learn how to do slip inlay in my ceramics class. This technique is what they use to put patterns and details on ceramics. Molly Hatch is an amazing ceramicist who I just ran across. Her work is delicate and botanical, and such an inspiration to my work!
Here is her website:

And, of course she is on Etsy!

Giada-
Busy at Work!
As mentioned by Bridget..."why haven't I been blogging?" here is the explanation! Just thought I would give you a link for the flower shop where I am lucky to design beautiful flower bouquets. I have been working full time this summer, because we have had lots of work!

Our First Anniversary!
Just like most people we know, Adam and I are very much on a budget. We wanted to do something special to celebrate our the first year of our marriage, so I got creative. I was able to make a fancy dinner with a beautiful table setting for all under $10!
First of all, out kitchen table(which we got for a steal on Craigslist), is now in the kitchen. We moved it in there, since we are painting and re-flooring the formal dining area. Although its a little more crowded than we would like, it works for the time being. So, my task was to transform the kitchen into an swanky dining establishment...
As it turns out, we have the most beautiful hot pink flowers in our front yard, that were my inspiration for the table decor. I took a few items from our bedroom(candles and photos in silver frames). The place mats, cloth napkins, and napkin rings were all presents we got for our wedding.
For the last elegant touch, I set the table with our fine china(the first time it has been used!). Thanks Grammy!
Pasta, fresh bread with oil and vinegar for dipping, and a green salad with toasted almonds and garden tomatoes, and a chocolate dessert with chocolate mint hot fudge were the only cost, all under 10 greens.
We toasted with peach Italian soda to a year filled with many fun memories. Although our first year together posed many challenges, the great times have far outweighed the hard ones. The difficulties have worked to bring us closer together. We are excited to see what adventures our second year has to hold for us! Here's to our happiness and health!

While we were gone...
Of course, while we were gone on our trip the kitties missed us very much. They still haven't scratched up any of our furniture, pooped on the carpet, or hung from my curtains(at least that i have seen). However, after returning from our trip, we noticed they have a love for small cords. They chewed completely through our main phone cord that all of our cordless phones gain power from. With that said, please call our cell phones until we can figure out how to fix our phones!
Pookie's Graduation!
Our cousin Pookie(aka: Trisha Abbe) graduated from college last Saturday, and we got to be there! We drove from Omaha to Midland to join everyone in her grad celebration. Larry(her dad) showed us the sights of Midland and we discovered that they even have a drive through liquor store! Those always come in handy in college towns!
We also got to see Adam and Deanna and their sweet little Alisyn. She just turned the big 1 and calls everyone "puppy".

Pictures for Mom-
Hi mom! Finally took pictures of our place; the rooms we have re-done at least. The bathroom shown is the one you saw in the demolition pictures, in a previous post. All we need in it now is to install the tile we already bought, and put in the toilet. I like how the chocolate brown turned out. The shower curtain was on sale for just $9.99, and was my inspiration for the colors.
I love my red living room, which was a labor of love to paint(thanks Adam, Valerie, and me!) Adam thinks it is lacking a big screen TV in the center, but if we did that, we wouldn't have been able to enjoy the nice, cozy fires we enjoyed this winter. We had more than enough fire wood due to the aspen trees we cut down in our yard(don't worry; still lots of trees left). Adam had fun with dad Kraus and the chainsaw. Boys...
My kitchen is my favorite room so far, though. I spend most of my time there, often doing homework and art projects at the table I set up in the center of the room. I also enjoy cooking in the oven that Dane so painstakingly cleaned up for me. Its the only thing we kept when we ripped out the kitchen. Dad Eastlick and Dane came last July, and helped us remodel the kitchen. New laminate floors, cabinets, fixtures, paint, appliances, and even a new fridge that they drove here on a trailer! I need to upload a picture of the room before...MAJOR improvement!
Last of all, our bedroom- This was the room we finished first, and lived in when all of the other work was going on. With a neat vaulted ceiling, and lots of closet space, we like it. However, I think the kitties think the bed is their own. They snooze on it all day, and save their energy for night time. Will we ever get on the same sleep pattern!?!
My Little Garden!
I am having so much fun growing veggies, herbs, and lavender in my kitchen! Its still a bit cold to plant outside here, but Adam and I are planning to do a garden in our backyard this summer. Look at my cherry tomatoes! They are really growing now, and I can't wait to see what else does well. Any tips on gardening will be greatly appreciated. :) Also, what can I freeze, so we can enjoy fresh goodies during the winter?

Our new house-
Whew! I think I am almost caught up all the pictures I have been meaning to show everyone! Here are pictures from our house we bought a year ago, and are still in the middle of remodeling. I am looking forward to taking a break from school this summer so Adam and I can work on more projects.
Here is a look at our current project. We had fun doing demolition on our hall bathroom. :) All it needs now is new tile. Finished project pictures to come!
